Dear Dan Smoot, Chief Executive Officer of Maxar Intelligence

After several requests addressed to your teams and to you directly, and without any response for more than three months, we, the news organizations behind the Gaza Project, hereby reiterate our request for access to a satellite image.

As you know, this investigation is part of our collaborative effort to uncover the truth about the deaths of journalists in Gaza since October 7, coordinated by Forbidden Stories, which brings together 13 press organizations, including Le Monde, The Guardian, Paper Trail Media, AFP, Der Spiegel, Der Standard, ZDF frontal, Radio France, ARIJ, +972 Magazine and Local Call.

Obtaining this image is not only crucial for our investigation but also serves the public interest. Providing us this satellite image can in no way endanger anyone, given that it dates from November 2023, almost one year ago.  It will enable us to determine whether Israeli army forces were at a specific location on a specific date.  The role of investigative journalism is to bring the truth to light, especially in matters of significant public concern.

Therefore, we urgently request you provide this image to us.

Signatories: Forbidden Stories, Le Monde, The Guardian, Paper Trail Media, AFP, Tamedia, Der Spiegel, Der Standard, ZDF frontal, Radio France, ARIJ, +972 Magazine and Local Call.

*The preview of the image in question is shown on Image Hunter, under Catalog ID 104001008E6F2900, and was taken at 08:53:16.970258 UTC. The position 31°32’39.66″N;  34°27’23.50″E

Support us so that we can continue investigating

We need your help to expose what the enemies of the press try to keep quiet.
